Jessica Lagrange Interiors LLC

Inspiration

On every project, we aim to do meaningful, creative design work. Along the way to reaching our goals, we draw inspiration from many sources—our clients’ lifestyles, the creations of a master furniture craftsman, a stunning sculpture from an up-and-coming artist. Interior design requires an intimate knowledge of many different disciplines and resources, to which our eyes are always open. In our aptly named Inspiration blog, we share the products, trends, artisans, muses and merchants we encounter, and hope they fill you with discovery, delight and, most significantly, knowledge to help you lead a more comfortable, aesthetically pleasing life.

Turning 20—With More Than A Little Help From My Friends

Turning 20—With More Than A Little Help From My Friends

Only 30% of businesses survive their 10th year in business, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. So what does that have to do with luxury interior design?  I started Jessica Lagrange Interiors 20 years ago. I’m not sure of the exact date, but I’m picking Valentine’s Day as my anniversary because it’s the ultimate time to celebrate friendship, romance and passion.  For me, these three concepts hold deep meaning, and aren’t limited to just my significant other. Friendship is everything in life; without my friends—who often started out as my clients, competitors, suppliers, vendors and team members—Jessica Lagrange Interiors wouldn’t exist today. And I think we need to find romance and passion in everything we do—from relating to our friends and the rest of the world to our professions.   Read more

Everybody loves to know what things cost, from the condo that just sold in their building to that fabulous pair of pumps on their best friend’s feet. It’s That Time Of The Year Again: Considering Colors Of The Year

Color is a highly personal choice. Yet since 2000, experts at The Pantone Color Institute have annually anointed a hue its “color of the year,” picked to focus trends and influence and inspire consumers. Industries that rely on color trends followed suit, with their soothsayers selecting annual stars. Despite the chance that very different trends could have emerged, there has always seemed to be a thematic consensus. Read more

The Cause For Carpets, Inspired By Our Carpet For A Cause

Magic carpets are the stuff of fairy tales. But given the foundational and functional influence an area carpet can have in a home, the name fits. Secret Sources That Aren’t Only To The Trade—Part II

Sharing Design Secrets:  Every luxury interior designer has their secret sources for the finer things in life, from bench made upholstery to household managers and literally everything in-between. At JLI, our interior designers scour Chicago and beyond to locate and partner with the finest sources we can find to meet our discerning luxury standards. Move Over Marie Kondo:  3 Rules for Decluttering the JLI Way

Most of us own too much stuff.  For example, the average U.S. household contains about 300,000 things, notes the Los Angeles Times.   Of course, too much stuff is only a problem if it bothers its owner, and clearly it does: 54% of Americans are overwhelmed by their personal clutter, and 78% of us have no idea what to do with it, noted a recent National Association of Professional Organizers survey.  It accumulates—in closets, basements, garages and more.  Read more
