Jessica Lagrange Interiors LLC

Inspiration: Occasions

On every project, we aim to do meaningful, creative design work. Along the way to reaching our goals, we draw inspiration from many sources—our clients’ lifestyles, the creations of a master furniture craftsman, a stunning sculpture from an up-and-coming artist. Interior design requires an intimate knowledge of many different disciplines and resources, to which our eyes are always open. In our aptly named Inspiration blog, we share the products, trends, artisans, muses and merchants we encounter, and hope they fill you with discovery, delight and, most significantly, knowledge to help you lead a more comfortable, aesthetically pleasing life.

Turning 20—With More Than A Little Help From My Friends

Turning 20—With More Than A Little Help From My Friends

Only 30% of businesses survive their 10th year in business, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. So what does that have to do with luxury interior design?  I started Jessica Lagrange Interiors 20 years ago. I’m not sure of the exact date, but I’m picking Valentine’s Day as my anniversary because it’s the ultimate time to celebrate friendship, romance and passion.  For me, these three concepts hold deep meaning, and aren’t limited to just my significant other. Friendship is everything in life; without my friends—who often started out as my clients, competitors, suppliers, vendors and team members—Jessica Lagrange Interiors wouldn’t exist today. And I think we need to find romance and passion in everything we do—from relating to our friends and the rest of the world to our professions.   Read more

We love to spread the love.  But candy and flowers quickly get eaten or die, so they’re way too fleeting for us.  We want our friends to feel the love for a long time, which is why we’ve been sending Valentines that are frame-worthy works of art in their own right since 2005.  And it’s why we’re giving a shout out to some gifts that are not only lasting ways to spread the love, but will bring a touch of luxury and the power of design to their recipients’ lives. Fabulous Red Furnishings That Transcend Valentine’s Day

Fabulous Red Furnishings That Transcend Valentine’s Day

There is no time like Valentine’s Day to pay homage to red.  Besides love—it’s meaning in many cultures—it also signals passion, excitement, adventure, seduction and, of course, sex. As interior designers, we often want to channel some of those powerful properties in a room.  Even its negatives—such as danger, evil and anger—can’t diminish our ‘love’ for this potent hue. All of these characteristics can add a little welcome electricity to a way too tame space. For that reason, we’ve pulled together the most outstanding and effective red furnishings we’ve considered, or used, in our own luxury projects during the last year. All it takes is one great red piece to add a huge dose of passion or panache to a room. Read more

5 Easy To Keep New Year’s Resolutions For 2016

Making New Year’s resolutions is a losing battle: 50 percent of us make them, says a Psychology Today piece, yet only 8 percent of us keep them, notes Forbes health writer Dan Diamond.  But let’s be honest here: most New Year’s resolutions are nebulous and boring.  We’re talking promises to lose weight, quit smoking, eat better, save more, drink less and so on, according to Time magazine’s 10 most commonly broken New Year’s Resolutions. Gift-Giving Ideas for the Last Minute Shopper

Gift-Giving Ideas for the Last Minute Shopper

Holiday gift-giving didn’t make the cut when psychiatrists Thomas Holmes and Richard Rahe created their famous stress scale in 1967.  But it should have!  This yearly task can be stressful, especially when you leave it to the last minute. But as luxury interior designers, we think this is a great opportunity for some imagination.  Our friends and families—and even our clients— shower us with gift-giving questions this time of the year. “What should I get my trendy partner, hipster niece, indie kid, or preppy assistant?” Here are gift-giving suggestions that showcase the mindset of our interior design team, and put our imaginative approach to work for the holidays. Shopping For Design: Finding Unique Antiques At The Chicago Botanic Garden’s Antique Show

Shopping is ‘cheaper than a shrink’ and ‘better than sex’ according to the age-old adages we invoke when we feel guilty about overspending.
